Harbour Master Offices

In the Republic of Croatia port management varies based on the character of the port. The ports open for public traffic are managed by port authorities. Six port authorities are founded for ports of outstanding (international) economic importance to the Republic of Croatia and 22 port authorities for ports of county importance.
The Port Authority, on the Croatian territory perform the following tasks:
  • Control of navigation in inland waters and territorial sea
  • Search and rescue of human life and property at sea
  • Inspection of safety
  • Supervision of the maritime domain
  • Registration and deletion of ships and keeping the register and the register of ships
  • Meteorological observations and measurements for the safety of navigation
  • Naval book publishing
  • Determination of professional competence of seafarers to acquire titles in Marine
  • Issuing and maintaining the register of issued authorizations for services on board ships
  • Administrative, professional and technical issues of safety at sea which are in their jurisdiction
